SSS Contribution Remittance Extended until June 30, 2020

Remittance of contributions to the Social Security System (SSS) for the Month of February, March and April 2020 will be extended until June 30, 2020.

The country were on strict quarantine on the middle of March 2020 and has just recently started to ease the quarantine measures and the SSS has understand the predicament of small businesses to fund the contributions during those times especially that most of the small businesses were also on shut down during those periods and most revenue of small businesses has gone down to nil.

WLCON'S opex increase outpaced improvements in gross profit

In the nine months ending 30 September 2023, WILCON DEPOT reported a 10.2 billion gross profit, up 0.6 billion from the same period in 2022. The figure marks a 6.56% improvement in gross profit. But it is not only the gross profit that has been increasing. Operating expenses grew to 6.6 billion from 5.6 billion a year earlier.  That would mark a 17.43% increase in operating expenses. The growth in operating expenses outpaces the improvement in the gross profit.  Store expansion may need to produce more gross profit to cover the associated operating expenses of the expansion.  Otherwise, there is value destruction. Year-to-date WLCON is down 33.56%.

Consunji's DFC Holdings not yet done accumulating DMC shares

We have earlier commented that the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant adverse impact on the operations and finances of DMCI Holdings, Inc. ( DMC ) during the first half of 2020 (1H 2020) which resulted to a weaker financial footing for DMC as of end of 1H 2020 . The weakness in the results of DMC sent it shares plummeting to a low of 3.40 a share almost revisiting the 3.10 a share low at the height of the sell down in March 2020. The Consunji’s took advantage of the weakness in the share price of DMC, accumulating DMC shares along the way. We have commented earlier that the Consunji’s private holding company, DFC Holdings, Inc., had accumulated a total of 55,425,100 DMC shares as of the end of August 2020 .
